Hélène Vaud

Twenty-six years on the same nine kilometres of headland. She has sold most of the good houses on Calaret Point at least twice.

Hélène joined the Calaret desk in 1999, two years after it moved into the old custom house on the quay, and has run it since 2007. She became senior partner in 2018.

Her particular knowledge is the first generation of Calaret houses — the long, low plans built between 1968 and 1979 — and what thirty winters of salt does to them. She keeps her own file of every roof, window system and external stair on the headland, and she will tell a buyer what is coming before a survey does.

She also runs the firm's off-register list for the west coast, which is where most Calaret business actually happens.

How Hélène works

  • Two viewings, two times of day

The headland is a different place at eight in the morning and at six in the evening. She will not let a buyer make an offer having seen a house only once.

  • The survey comes first

On the coast she commissions the structural and damp report before the price conversation, not after it, because on these houses the report is the price conversation.
